A major accident was recorded on Tuesday afternoon (25), around 2 pm, at KM-42 of BR-369, between the municipalities of Bandeirantes and Andirá, in the Northern Pioneer region of Paraná. The collision involved four vehicles and left several victims in serious condition.

The vehicles involved were an ambulance from the municipality of Andirá, a gray Fiat Toro, a white Fiat Strada — both belonging to agricultural companies in the region — and a white Toyota Yaris with license plates from Andirá, occupied by an elderly couple from the rural area.

According to information gathered at the scene, the ambulance was traveling from Andirá to Bandeirantes with four occupants: the driver, two pregnant women, and one other passenger. A Fiat Toro and a Fiat Strada were following behind, each with only their drivers. A Toyota Yaris was traveling in the opposite direction and collided head-on with the ambulance for reasons still unknown.

The collision occurred on a stretch of road with only three lanes, which increases the mystery surrounding the causes of the accident. With the impact, the ambulance overturned, and the Toyota Yaris was completely destroyed. The elderly couple was trapped in the wreckage and were rescued in a joint operation by the Bandeirantes Fire Department, SAMU (Emergency Medical Service) from Andirá and Bandeirantes, Civil Defense, and the EPR (Highway Police) team.

The ambulance victims were also removed in serious condition. Due to the complexity of the rescue and the severity of the injuries, two SAMU helicopters were called in. One of the injured was taken directly to Londrina, while another was transferred from the Santa Casa de Bandeirantes hospital, also to that city.

The drivers of the Fiat Toro and the Fiat Strada were not injured. Both remained at the scene and provided information to the authorities.

The accident caused regional commotion, especially due to the involvement of pregnant women and an elderly couple. Traffic on BR-369 was completely blocked for hours, with long queues in both directions. Teams from the Federal Highway Police, the Military Police of Andirá and Bandeirantes, as well as rescue agencies, worked intensively at the scene.

There is still no updated information on the health status of the victims transferred to Londrina.
