On Sunday night (8), around 8 pm, an accident involving a Renault/Scenic and a GM/S10 Rodeio occurred near the Libânio School, in Assaí. The collision resulted in significant damage and injuries, mainly to the 9-year-old son of the Renault driver, who suffered a seizure after hitting his head on the window due to the impact. The boy has autism, which made the situation worse.
The Military Police found the Renault in the middle of the road with its front end destroyed. The 37-year-old driver reported that the GM/S10 driver collided with her vehicle and fled on foot. After searching, the police located the 40-year-old man at his residence. He showed visible signs of drunkenness and resisted arrest, requiring the use of pepper spray to restrain him. The man was taken to the 34th Civil Police Precinct, where he will be charged with failure to provide assistance, resisting arrest and drunk driving. The GM/S10 vehicle was released to a licensed driver, while the Renault/Scenic, with an expired license, was seized and taken to the Military Police yard.
