In the early hours of Saturday morning, a team from the Military Police was called to respond to a report of a violation of an emergency protective order in front of a commercial establishment on Avenida Rio de Janeiro, in Assaí.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police found a man being restrained by bystanders, while the complainant reported that, upon entering the establishment, she encountered her ex-partner, against whom she has a restraining order in effect. According to the victim, the perpetrator began making death threats and physically assaulting her, but was prevented from continuing the assaults by people who were at the scene.
During the commotion, a third person who was with the victim was also assaulted and threatened by the suspect, a fact that was later confirmed by a medical report.
Given the situation, a ROTAM team was requested to assist in arresting the perpetrator, who resisted arrest and refused to accompany the police officers. To overcome the resistance and ensure the safety of those involved and the public present, it was necessary to use less-lethal means.
After the incident was resolved, all parties were taken to the municipal hospital for forensic medical examinations and subsequently to the Civil Police Station, where the case was presented to the competent police authority for the adoption of appropriate legal procedures.
