The MPPR (Public Prosecutor's Office of Paraná), through the 2nd Public Prosecutor's Office of Andirá and Gaeco (Londrina Nucleus of the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime), launched Operation X-Ray this Thursday (15). which investigates possible deviations of public funds from SHBA (Sociedade Hospitalar Beneficente de Andirá).
So far, five search and seizure warrants have been served in the Paraná cities of Andirá and Bandeirantes and in Assis, in the municipality of São Paulo.
According to investigations, it was found that employees of the health unit, taking advantage of their functions, diverted public resources in an estimated amount of R$ 550,000 – which includes direct transfers made to family members and other people with no connection to the hospital.
Among the targets of the investigation are those occupying important positions in hospital society, in the board of directors and in the financial sector. An audit carried out by the MPPR found that the irregularities occurred especially through salary payments, bonuses and various types of reimbursement.
