A disagreement between two brothers-in-law ended in violence on Sunday night (22), around 8:18 pm. The Military Police were called after a 36-year-old man was admitted to the local hospital with a stab wound in the abdomen , near the rib, on the left side.
According to the victim's statement to the police, the assault occurred after an argument with his 38-year-old brother-in-law. The fight reportedly started over a card game while they were consuming alcoholic beverages. At some point during the argument, the man reported feeling a strong burning sensation , then realizing he had been struck with a knife.
Following the complaint, the police team went to the address indicated by the victim, where they located the brother-in-law involved. The suspect confirmed that there had been an argument and that they had exchanged physical blows, but denied using any knife in the confrontation. A search was carried out at the residence, but the weapon used in the crime was not found . Despite the suspect's denial, due to the severity of the injuries and the victim's account, the man was arrested and taken to the Civil Police Station for legal proceedings.
The victim, who had a penetrating wound of approximately 5 cm with possible arterial bleeding and a large number of clots , was transferred to the Santa Casa de Cornélio Procópio for specialized medical care.
The Civil Police will investigate the circumstances of the attack and attempt to identify the weapon used in the crime.
