A woman, 17 weeks pregnant, was assaulted with blows to the head and back by her partner last Thursday (2), in Arapongas (Londrina Metropolitan Region). The injuries were allegedly caused by using a broom handle and by hitting the gate of the residence. The victim's one-year-old son was with his mother when military police found her lying in the bathroom, in a state of shock.

In her statement to the PMPR (Military Police of Paraná), the woman reported that the man had arrived drunk and began to insult and threaten her with death. The assaults allegedly began afterward, while the child was still in the victim's arms.

The suspect was arrested and detained with pepper spray after resisting arrest by police officers. He also had injuries on his body, attributed to the victim's self-defense reaction.

Both were referred for medical treatment. The victim also reported that the man has a history of previous assaults against her and, therefore, expressed interest in filing criminal charges and requesting protective measures against the suspect.
