In the early hours of this Thursday (02), around 2:01 am, the Military Police were called to attend a domestic violence incident on Rua Liberato Spagolla, near the station fair, in Santa Mariana.
According to information relayed by bystanders, a couple was arguing in the street, and the woman was calling for help. At the scene, police found the man with a deep cut to his neck, requiring an ambulance to be called to transport him to the hospital.
After receiving medical attention and having stitches, the man tried to escape from the health unit, but was restrained by the staff using moderate force and taken back to the hospital.
In her statement to the police, the woman reported that she was trying to end the relationship, but her partner did not accept it and began to assault her, attempting to strangle her in a public place before being restrained by bystanders. According to the victim, he also made death threats, saying he would end her life when they got home.
During the argument, the man allegedly used a piece of flooring to injure his own neck, causing the cut.
The woman also reported that she fears for her life and the safety of her children, stating that her partner uses drugs and frequently exhibits aggressive behavior.
Given the facts, the man was placed under arrest and taken to the Civil Police Station, where the case will be investigated.
