ASSAÍ – TO ACQUIRE, SELL, SUPPLY AND/OR PRODUCE DRUGS

The ROTAM team, while patrolling near the residence of a man suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, observed a man at the gate of the residence who, upon noticing the patrol car, clenched his fist, attempting to hide something. The officers ordered him to stop, at which point the man threw the object away. During a personal search, nothing illegal was found, only R$2029.00 in his pocket. When questioned, the man confessed to throwing away packets of powder. A team with a sniffer dog was called in to assist in the search, as the area is heavily vegetated. When questioned about having drugs in his residence, he began to disobey police orders and attempted to flee, but was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody. Police teams went to the property where the suspect resides, located in the Maracatu section. During a search of the premises, a sniffer dog indicated a positive odor in a drawer. Upon inspection, a quantity of a substance similar to cocaine was found, packaged in a plastic bag ready for sale and distribution. Also found were R$ 5,650.00 in cash, a credit card machine, and a cell phone. When questioned about the large amount of money, the man stated he had withdrawn government benefits from his wife's account. Given the facts, the man was arrested and taken to the Civil Police Station.
