A serious traffic accident was recorded in the early afternoon of this Saturday (10), around 12:20 pm, on highway PR-281, in Dois Vizinhos, towards São Jorge do Oeste. The collision occurred near the head of the Chopim River bridge and involved a VW/Amarok pickup truck and a VW/Gol car.
According to information gathered at the scene, the collision was head-on. The driver of the pickup truck suffered injuries and received assistance from the Fire Department and SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service), being taken for medical treatment. The VW/Gol had three occupants—two men and a woman who, unfortunately, died at the scene of the accident. According to initial information, the victims were residents of São Jorge do Oeste.
The State Highway Patrol was on site to manage traffic control and record the incident. The causes of the accident will be investigated by the competent authorities.
