A serious accident was recorded on BR-369, in Corbélia, on Monday morning (28), involving a school bus and two cars. The head-on collision between the bus, which was empty of passengers, and a car with a family resulted in three deaths and left several people injured.
The car, occupied by five members of the same family, was hit head-on by the bus. The father and two children, aged 2 and 5, died at the scene. The mother was taken to the hospital in serious condition, and another 5-year-old child was also injured.
Moments after the first collision, a second accident was recorded on the same stretch of road: a vehicle traveling from Nova Aurora to Cascavel, with three occupants on their way to a medical appointment, was also involved in the crash. All three people suffered moderate injuries.
In total, nine victims were treated at the scene. Most were trapped in the wreckage, requiring a large mobilization of rescue teams. Emergency responders from SIATE and SAMU, as well as Civil Defense and volunteer firefighters from Corbélia, attended the scene.
The highway was closed for a considerable time to attend to the victims and remove the vehicles. The causes of the accident will be investigated.
