América beat Corinthians 2-0, this Saturday (3), for the ninth round of Serie A of the Brazilian Championship, and gained momentum in the fight to leave the relegation zone. Defender Danilo Avelar and young striker Renato Marques scored the winning goals for alviverde at Independência, in Belo Horizonte.

With the triumph, América reached seven points and rose to 18th place in Serie A.

Now, Coelho is just behind Bahia, Corinthians and Cuiabá, teams above the relegation zone that add up to eight points.
