Sport's comeback victory over Corinthians, on Saturday night, will mark history in the youth teams of Ilha do Retiro. By beating the club from São Paulo, Rubro-negro eliminated the biggest champion of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup - with 10 titles -, qualified for the round of 16 and now reaches the best campaign in the history of Leão in the last six years of Copinha .
Before this season, the last edition of the tournament in which Sport got so far took place precisely in 2016 - in the best campaign recorded by the club in the history of Copinha. At the time, the team advanced to the quarterfinals and ended up eliminated by Cruzeiro, in a 2-1 defeat.
Cruzeiro, by the way, will be Sport's new opponent in the next phase of 2023. The duel will be at 7:30 pm on Monday, in Araraquara.
