The 34 Brazilians waiting to leave the Gaza Strip will be on the list of foreigners authorized to cross the border this Friday (10). The information was given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after a conversation between Minister Mauro Vieira and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Eli Cohen.
According to Itamaraty, Cohen stated that it was not possible to fulfill the guarantee he gave that Brazilians would leave on Wednesday (8), due to unexpected closures at the border.
The list of foreigners authorized to leave the Gaza Strip is drawn up by Egyptian and Israeli authorities. To date, more than 3,400 foreigners have been allowed to leave Gaza, 36% of whom have US passports.
The 34 Brazilians are sheltering in the cities of Khan Younes and Rafah, close to the border with Egypt. The Rafah border, which connects Egypt to the Gaza Strip, is the only place for people or goods to enter and exit the Palestinian enclave.
