Entities that represent book publishers sent a letter to the Ministry of Education this Monday, (12/5), arguing that companies may be forced to abandon the program of production and distribution of literature books (the Literary PNLD) by financial inability to continue producing content.
In the document, they claim that there was a nominal reduction of about 40% in the amounts paid per page in the Literary PNLD 2021 compared to 2018, harming students and compromising their learning.
The situation of publishers has worsened with the increase in the cost of paper and inflation and the additional obligations of this public notice for the production of digital material and audiovisual resources, non-existent in 2018.
The document was signed by Abrelivros (Brazilian Association of Books and Educational Content), Abrale (Brazilian Association of Educational Book Authors), CBL (Brazilian Book Chamber), Libre (Brazilian League of Publishers) and SNEL (National Union of Book Publishers).
