Starting this Monday (13), the Tax on Circulation of Goods or Services (ICMS) on non-essential products will rise in Paraná. According to the State Department of Finance (Sefa), the modal rate will rise from 18% to 19%, in an action to “mitigate the collection losses resulting from last year’s tax changes, which limited some states’ charges”.

The measure was approved by the Legislative Assembly of Paraná and Law No. 21,308/2022 was sanctioned by Governor Ratinho Jr. at the end of last year.

The new law also changes the rate for products such as carbonated water and soft drinks, from 18% to 20%; mineral water and alcoholic beverages, from 16% to 17%; jewelry and goldsmith artifacts, from 16% to 17%; and tobacco products; from 16% to 17%.
