President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) edited, this Sunday (1/1), a provisional measure to maintain the payment of R$ 600 to beneficiary families of Auxílio Brasil, which will once again be called Bolsa Família.

Lula's campaign promise, the measure covers more than 21 million families who receive the benefit. In July, Congress, in conjunction with then-president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), increased the aid amount only until the end of 2022.

The Transition PEC, approved at the end of December, made room in the budget for maintaining the amount currently paid. The article, lasting one year, guaranteed a budget of R$ 145 billion in the spending ceiling. In addition to the R$ 600, Lula signed a series of measures and decrees that fulfill campaign promises. Among them, decrees that restrict access to firearms and to combat deforestation in the Amazon, in addition to an MP that maintains fuel exemption.
