The elected federal deputy Marina Silva (Rede) was called a “slut” and “traitor” by supporters of the candidate for re-election, Jair Messias Bolsonaro (PL), as she left a pizzeria at the Radisson Blu hotel, in Belo Horizonte, on the night of Friday (10/22).
“They were low-slang words, from people who verbally attacked me in a restaurant and that I decided to register in court precisely so as not to be conniving with any type of political and gender violence”, said Marina.
Marina emphasized that she registered the complaint because she understood that in the context of the “political tension we are experiencing”, this attitude characterizes political gender violence, which is intended to “inhibit the exercise of political action by women”.
She also spoke out on social media about the episode.
“Yesterday, after having dinner with Network leaders at the restaurant at the Radisson Blu hotel (BH), I was cursed by Bolsonaro supporters. It's the old grotesque attempt to coerce women's political action. It is gender political violence spreading across the country in Bolsonarist times,” wrote the elected deputy.
